Empenage flying wire attach points

Post by Ebby »

When I ordered my flying wires back in 2005 I decided to use 8 wires on the tail section. I was about to paint the steel tubing and realized I don't have attachment points for the second set of wires. If another builder has decided to go with 8 wires, where did you place the additional bushings for the attachment points of the second set of wires? Right now I have the bushings installed as per the plans for the stock wire arrangement. All the top wires are the same length and the bottom wires equal length and shorter than the top wires, if I put the additional bushings in line with the elevator hinge bushings it will push the wires forward at the lower ends. As long as there is symmetry is that going to work?

I realize most Classics have one set of wires in the tail. At this point I can do that as well and keep the extra wires for back up. I ask because I am about ready to paint the steel tubing and want all the weldments done before painting. Actual measurements and/or photos would be great.
