Restoring Serial #18

Post by darwinsowders »

This is my 1st post on the forum. I started on Snoopy a few months ago but as is typical of me, I'm not making the kind of headway I would like.

I am currently repairing the wings. It was assembled using some sort of brown glue. It has deteriorated to the point that many of the joints just pop apart.

I have some questions that I would like some help with.

Has anyone deleted upper ailerons without enlarging the lower ones? If so, what were the effects?

What wood propeller works well with an O-200? What would be the cruise airspeed? I'm more interested in short takeoff than speed.

Does it have upper ailerons now? As for the prop, Sensenich can answer that question. Sounds like you want a climb prop. I doubt it would cruise over 85 mph with that configuration.

Yes, it does have upper ailerons now.

The reason I asked about the prop is that I'm curious about actual results people are getting. That may help me make a better decision when it comes time to order it.

Thank you for the reply. If you have any further thoughts or ideas, please don't hesitate to let me know.
