First start of Rotec R3600 radial engine
Hi folks,
Last Saturday we started our Rotec radial for the first time! Everything went fine! The sound is nice, especially on idle! No overheating - the shroud over the collector ring seams to work fine as well as the air inlet.

Enjoy!
We wil keep you posted about the results!
Best regards

Re: First start of Rotec R3600 radial engine
Hi Hatz folks!
We have now a bit more than a couple hours engine time on ground: everthing is fine, the engine runs now smootly with great sound. Everthing is finished and a cockpit canvas and wing tip protection covers are in the make.
As the Swiss authority mills are turning slowly, it will become next Spring for the moment of truth - first flight! We still keep the plane with the wings detached in our shop (so to avoid any unnecessary hangar rent!). Weighting and balancing incl. publication of main parts weight rest until assembly on airfield.
Interesting: Sam built a complete new wing tank from carbon fibres composite, which yielded in less than have the weight of the purchased Makelan aluminum tank! Got to save weight in order to compensate for the heavy Bendix wheels!
Look for finally updated website: www.aeroplaneworks.ch
Have a nice winter with happy building!

Hans and Sam,
All of us Hatzers state side would LOVE to see your creation. Any thought to what it would take to bring her across the pond? I'm sure it would be a costly venture, maybe you could start a donation fund?
She's a true, one of a kind beauty!
