Hi Folks,
I'm ordering the materials to fabricate my ailerons and I can't find a source for 3003-H32 aluminum as specified for the aileron spars and ribs. I checked Spruce, Wicks and Airparts Inc. They have 3003-H14. Will -H14 work?

Re: Aileron Aluminum
3003 is carried by my local ornamental iron fabricator.... may also check your local heating and A/C shops.

Re: Aileron Aluminum
I called Airparts Inc. today and they never heard of 3003-H32. Do you guys think this may be a discrepancy on the plans?

Re: Aileron Aluminum
I guess the 3003H14 would work but I would assume they meant 5052H32. 3003H14 seems awful soft to be using for a spar.

Re: Aileron Aluminum
I talked to Ron Sieck, builder of Hatz Classic SN23 NX230RS, and he said he used 3003-H14. He couldn't find a source for 3003-H32 as specified on the plans and called Jeff Shoemake. Jeff said it should read H14. So I guess this can be considered an error on the plans. Ron said the ailerons are very strong even with softer 3003.

Re: Aileron Aluminum
I was putting together my order for aluminum came across this post about the ailerons. I asked a local supplied about 3003 and he suggested 5052H32 as a better (newer) alternate to 3003. So it looks like the plans just mixed the two grades into one. 3003H32 is a not a real product, but 3003H14 and 5052H32 are. Both will work fine for the aileron spars I suspect.
