Took all winter, but I am really happy with the change to fabric.

Any reason other than the look?

No I just did not like the aluminum next to a fabric wing. Also could never get the exact shape I wanted at the bow (my ailerons went clear to the end of the wing). The wood & fabric made a better (compound curves ) transition at the wing bow. IMHO.

Did you draw them up yourself or did you use CB1 plans? Looks great!

Basic CB1 with modifications for piano hinge in 4 locations (not continuous)
Also flew today with new ailerons - no significant difference

This is something I have said I want to do since I got started.... where did you get the CB1 plans? do you have any other pics of the process? I am always glad to see someone else has the same hair brained idea (wifes words never would be my own)! Looks great!

I bought the CB1 plans and the Classic. Actually I ended up using parts from each plan. ie I think the CB1 axle and wheel configuration is better than the classic? I would be happy to copy and send you the sheet on the wood ailerons. No I did not think to take pictures along the way.

For what its worth - I needed to find a fast way to cut gussets for my Hatz ribs and the hundreds I will need for the Stearman wings. I bought a very heavy duty razor armed paper cutter. Works great.
