I see where builders run linseed oil in the fuselage tubing, but I have seen no mention of doing that with compression tubes. Thoughts?

This is a good point. I sand blasted my bare metal parts and stored them in plastic bags until I was ready to powder coat them. Prior to coating I cleaned them with MEK and then pre-heated them with a Map gas torch to burn off any oils and other impurities. I was always wearing gloves and never let my hands touch the parts. I have no experience with epoxy coated or powder coated parts that have rusted internal but I expect that the result would be similar, epoxy is some pretty tough stuff. The correct primer will offer some resistance to corrosion that powder will not.
