HC #041 Update

Thought I would join Doug in updating our HC progress.

The center section is complete, all four wings are complete with the exception of varnish on the newely completed bottom wings and construction of the ailerons. I'm setting up jigs to build wood ailerons.
The fuselage clusters are being welded by a good friend who does beautiful work and has a ton of experience. Jeff Shoemake built my landing gear and dynafocal mount for our 0 SMOH Lycoming 0320 D3G 160 engine. I got in on the group order for the flying/landing wires and they are beautiful. I have bought our Sensenich wood prop about two years ago with 50hrs. that included the prop bolts, plate and spinner. I sent it to Sensenich to go over and certify and it returned beautifully finished and ready to mount. I hope to have the fuselage on the gear by spring and rig the wings and tail before I start covering the wings next summer.

Ron

Looks great. So does the backyard. I would love to see more pictures. With water in the back yard are you going to put it on floats?

Hi Bill,
Thank you, the hot and dry summer we have had on the east coast has been rough on our yard and the lake as well. The lake is a bit small and if it were larger, I'd be tempted for sure.
I'm in the process of putting together lots pictures related to our project construction and trying to decide what is the best web based photo site to use. Any ideas?
Doug and Scott, are you guys happy with the site you are using?

Hi Ron,
My web site and the Hatz site are hosted by IPOWER ( www.ipower.com ). The basic price is very affordable and you get more capability then you will probably ever use including the photo gallery. Call me old school, but I prefer having my gallery hosted vs. on a photo sharing site as I have bit more control over it including removing anything I don't want living for eternity on the web. The service has been fine and I've had no problems.

Doug makes a valid point. I just use photobucket.

http://photobucket.com/

It is pretty easy to upload, and you can make it public or private as you choose. Free.

Doug knows a lot more about all this online stuff than I do.......

Sure look forward to seeing your photos

Bill

Thanks guys for the info, I will decide on which system to use and make sure to post it here..I'm a bit behind on my builder site. It's a great tool for tracking and recording progress but is limited to being able to post no more then three pictures for each log entry.

Nice work, Ron. I haven't touched my plane since May. :P hope to assemble it all this fall now that I have my wires.

Thank you Nick, I hope you have had time to work on your project this winter. Would love an update or your progress as well..
My progress has been slow too but thought I'd share my latest progress on the ailerons. I had decided that I wanted to go with the look of the very early Waco UPF-7 wood ailerons, don't think they produced very many. I'm not completely finished with his one but very close. I'm waiting to drill the holes and attach the aileron fitting and slave strut fittings until I assemble and rig the wings that way all fittings and their exact location will be determined. I will add the last 4 diagonals in the first two rib bays when that is completed.
