Flying wires Group Order

Hey Hatzers, I'm nearly ready to order my wires, probably from Brunton's via Steen Aero like the last group did. I understand there's about a 20% discount if we get 5 or more folks to order at once. Is anyone else interested in participating in a group order?

I would encourage everyone building (who doesn't already have them) to give this some serious consideration. Flying wires aren't cheap and the prices only go up. If memory serves, we saved around $800 when we did the last group order (last year).. and those prices were quite a bit higher than the prior order a few years earlier. If you are committed to building the Hatz then sooner is better for buying these. If you hold off now, the prices will probably continue to climb and when you are ready to order you may not have the benefit of having enough partners available to coordinate a group discount.

Thanks Doug.
I'm going to contact Steen Aero to get a quote and I would be happy to coordinate a group order. Anyone who is interested, please let me know here, or drop me an email at

Dave Stone at Steen Aero is well versed in Hatz flying wire orders by now. This is the 3rd group order that I'm aware of in the last several years and he's handled many more before me. He's a good guy to deal with and makes the transaction simple. I had to transport my Hatz project out to the EAA hangar at my local airport to assemble my frame so that I could measure for my flying wires before putting a group order together. But I found that all my measurements were within limits of what are called out in the CB1 plans. The assembly wasn't a waste of time though. While out there I rigged the wings and drilled them in place, welded up my interplane struts, and fabricated my control cables. The group order is a good savings tool.

Well it looks like we already have three builders interested. I should be getting an official quote soon, but if it goes the same as the last group order, we only need 2 more people to get a group discount. Remember that the price goes up every year, so even if you don't exactly need your streamline wires right now, you'll save money. I believe the group order saves us about $800 each. So let me know if you are interested in getting in on it.

Hi Nick,
Count me in and if you need a hand in the process of putting it together I'd be happy to help out.

Hey folks, below is the word from David at Steen Aero. A group order constitutes a savings of OVER $900 EACH. Even more if we can find 10+ builders.
So if you are within a year or two of needing your wires, now is the time to order, as the price is only going up.
Nick
Hi Nick,
The current pricing for 1 Complete Set of Flying, Landing and Tail wires complete
with SS Terminal Assemblies for the Hatz Classic is $4028.40.
If you can locate a minimum of 4 additional builders, this will meet the criteria
for a group order of 5 sets and your cost per set will be reduced to $3116.12.
If you have 10+ total builders, Bruntons will provide additional savings.
Even if the builder is years away from completion, he will require these wires at some
point in the future and the cost will be more expensive even with the group order discount
as nothing of value is declining in cost.
Kind Regards,
David

Interesting... I'm sure the value of the dollar comes into play here as well..... That discounted price is about $70 less (better) than last years order. Take advantage of it!!!

I have my wires but am in need of the ends. I don't know if Steens will discount the ends only but if it helps with the group order, count me in.
