Playing with fire!

Post by orchardair »

Hatzers,
Every now and then a visitor comes to the shop. This time it was my father, with his nice camera.
I solicited pictures, mostly in anticipation of needing to provide the FAA with proof that I built this thing.
They came out pretty nice - I thought you might enjoy.

At this point you might want to consider what kind of radio you are going to install. After I welded the 1/2 inch tube in, as you just did, we found out that the radio and transponder we wanted to use (Micro Air) was too long for a panel mount. I cut the tube out and moved it 2 inches further back to make room for the harness and connectors etc. There is still plenty of room between the pilot and panel.

Thanks John!
That is a good point. The radio/transponder I am leaning towards now is the set from Trig, with remote mount electronics. The controller part on the panel is relatively shallow. Of course by the time I get to the panel part, avionics will all be applications on a flat screen iPad like device..
