Re: Mehlin Smith passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 28.
We are very sad about Mehlin's death!
Our sincere condolences to Mehlin's wife and family!
We will preserve our charming friend in our minds forever!
Mehlin has been pioneering the excellent Hatz homebuilt design into a most beautiful looking scale Waco style antic biplane! This most successful design encouraged us to copy it's tail design, the Bendix wheels and adapt the Rotec radial engine together with own design features to finally create our "Vintage Hatz".
We are very grateful for Mehlin's advice and his nice comments for our project has been inspiring both of us!
We wish that Hatzers in the Brodhead area will carry our condolences to Mehlin's wife and friends!
We are very happy that Mehlin's beautiful Hatz is preserved and kept flying by our very capable friend Bill Rusk!
