Yes, this has been done. I can't remember who did it, but I believe it was in the aerobatic group with the One Design.
As I recall the diameter of the carbon fiber rod had to be increased pretty substantially. Might be a clearance issue but worth looking into. Wish I could be more help.

Hi Hatzers

Does anyone atempted or investigated the possibility to subsitute the 4130 push/pull tube by a carbon or aluminum tube? Our aim is (of course) to save some weight.
