As I recall, when I ordered all that hardware from Wicks, I got a call from them correcting me on that very washer and they substituted with the -10's. I continue to be very impressed with Wicks customer service.

Who knows.....with all the orders I've placed and will place with them, I just may get an invite to their Christmas party this year! :D

AN960-10 washer measured from ACS:
ID= 0.203
OD = 0.438
Thick = 0.063

AN3 Bolt:
OD = .188

The ID of the AN960-3 from Wicks at 0.105 in wont fit an AN 3 bolt at 0.188.
I don't know why the plans call out for AN960-3 but I would use the AN960-10.

Hi Ed,

Nice talking with you on the phone. I just went to compare ACS AN960-3 (which comes up as AN960-10) to the Wicks AN960-3. They're different dimensions. I know you said the -10 fit perfectly, so guess that's it, but just for those wondering, here's what Wicks has for -3:

Type Cad Plated Steel
I.D. 0.105 in
O.D. 1/4 in
Thickness 0.032 in
Series Standard
Bolt or Screw Size #3

I then looked for AN960-10 at Wicks and this came up:

Type Cad Plated Steel
I.D. 0.203 in
O.D. 0.438 in
Thickness 0.063 in
Series Standard
Bolt or Screw Size #10
Bolt or Screw Number AN3

And ACS -10:

Material: Steel
Bolt/screw size: 3/16
O.D. .438
I.D. .203
Thickness light .032
Thickness Regular .063

Anyway....guess confusion is part of the game.

John

John,
I think you and I are at about the same place. I just ordered that same hardware and discovered the same AN960-3. There is not a AN960-3 washer but I think that these are the washers for the AN3 bolts. The correct washer for an AN3 bolt is AN960-10, go figure.

Sheet 9, Top Wing, calls for 50 AN960-3...but ACS doesn't have a -3 (starts with -4) and I can't find these on the drawings either. Other places do sell it though....just thought it wad odd and wondering why they're not identified on the drawings.

In general, if given a choice between steel and aluminum washers, does it matter which I choose?

If given a choice between light and regular (was bolts or nuts), seems like I should select regular.

While on page 9, is it only the rear spar bracket that gets mounted at 1"...not 3/4" as per plans? Front spar bracket OK at 3/4"?

Thank you for being patient with all my questions,

John
