I ordered mine from DIllsburg as well and was pleased with the service and delivery. However, his stock of "streamline" tubing (as of last winter) was not a true streamline shape... more like a 1/2 round leading edge that tapered to the trailing edge. He did mention this to me when I ordered to make me aware of the difference. I opted to get the true streamline tubing from Wicks, but bought everything else from Dillsburg.

In case no one has mentioned it yet, Dillsburg only deals by phone & fax... no email. so be prepared to fax him a materials list which he will update with prices and fax back. Also, on small lengths (less than 4' I think) he'll charge a fee, so I ended up buying a little extra on some pieces.. no big deal really.

Will be interesting to see how prices have changed in last few years. Have been working with a friend who is building a Super Cub from plans. He just purchased his steel from Dillsberg and was impressed with their prices and survice. Will give them a try.

I'm building Classic #86. I spent a few evenings calculating the 4130 materials from the plans and below is what I came up with. I'm mostly done with the fuselage welding and my materials list is holding up fine. Despite this, I'm sure I'm missing something so use with caution.

The below list was sent to Charlie at "The Dillsburg Aeroplane Works" and he filled the order for $1691.61 plus $146.58 freight from PA to TX. The streamline tubing is pricy!!

Hi All
I am beginning a "Classic" (Plans built). Will be my 5 th airplane, third from plans. Guess some people never learn. Does anyone have a good "materials list" for the steel required? Am in the process of building a list from the plans but would like to check against someone elses list.

By the way, I am an A&P (with IA), an EAA TC, and a DAR, so maybe can help with inspection and certification questions if anyone has any.

Looking forward to getting to know other Hatz builders. Maybe meet at AirVenture?
