Here is a short video of it. Usually they have viking costumes on, so must have been just setting up or something.

It was called the Ornothopter and was a hoot to watch!

Several years ago there was this fellow who built this flying machine (didn't really fly) that looked straight out of the stone age. From what I remember, it was rough hewn beams strapped together with rope, a set of wings that flapped, and a lady standing up on top of the wing "wing walking" and waving to the crowd as he taxiid it up and down the main fairway of OSH flyin grounds. I think I remember that they were dressed like Fred and Wilma Flintstone. There has to be pictures in one of the past SA mags. Any one else remember seeing that? It was a real hoot!

Sorry to interrupt a good thread...

Maybe I should've elaborated...it was the one rolling up and down the street. Anyone remember?

Yeah Jeff, I saw Fred Flintstone's Hatz at Osh several years ago. He had Wilma wing walking on the top wing!
But, I don't remember his tail wheel attachment...sorry.

I found the following in the CB-1 plans Fred Flintstone sent me.......
Tail Spring Mount: The piece welded to the bottom of the vert. stab spar=0.090" sheet 8; big "U" shaped thingy=0.125" sheet 24
All tail Brace wire lugs=0.90" sheet 24.

Thanks Ed. I see your point, however some of those are doubled and the landing gear attach points are .125 which is why I'm so curious.

Anyone else care to share what they did?

I made mine from .090 since it is is also used for the wing wire attach points.
Of course, I am a long way from flying.

OK, I'm looking at the plans and can't find where the material thickness is specified for the following:
Tail spring mount
Hor. Stab. brace wire (flying wire) lug

For those of you that have already done it, what is the material thickness for these? .090? .125? I can't seem to find it on the plans
